MAYOR GRAY HOSTS CEREMONIAL D.C. STATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP COIN TOSS at Howard University
Ceremonial coin toss will determine “home team” status between Dunbar and Friendship
Mayor Vincent. C. Gray, State Superintendent of Education Hosanna Mahaley Jones, Statewide Director of Athletics, education leaders, Dunbar High School and Friendship Collegiate Academy football coaches will host a media avail and ceremonial coin toss to determine who the “home” team will be for the D.C. State Athletic Association’s inaugural statewide football championship.
For the first time in D.C., the winner of the Charter School bracket will play against the winner of the D.C. Public Schools bracket to determine a final statewide football champion football. The championship football game will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2:30 p.m. at Howard University’s Greene Memorial Stadium.
The District’s public, private, parochial, independent and charter school sports teams have the opportunity to compete against each other this fall as a result of DCSAA’s formation earlier this year by Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
