This program will inform/teach the youth and their families of the Washington, DC area the importance of Financial Literacy and saving for their futures and College.  We will discuss saving options, how to open an account, the importance of maintaining a positive balance checking account,  credit cards and the loan process.  There will also be a panel of current college students who will discuss the 411 on budgeting while in college.

September:

TBA

October:

Classroom Paint Restoration/ Toiletry Drive for St. Ann’s Maternity Home

Our goal will be to paint 3 or 4 classrooms at a school, tentatively Kimball Elementary School.  It would be great to have the students at the school play an active part in assisting as well, so that they feel a sense of ownership and pride in their school.  Due to their age they will not be able to paint as much, so it will be important to recruit older students and our own families as well.  At the same time… we will be collecting toiletries for St. Ann’s to give to the young mothers and their children.  Service hours will be given for both activities.  Students must provide the service learning form.

November:

College is Cool, and Teachers are too!

This event will take place during American Education Week.  CIC, Inc. will treat 5 participating schools to a special treat! To show how much we appreciate our school educators and administrators, CIC will deliver a continental breakfast to 5 schools in the DMV.  A delicious breakfast is coming to a teacher break-room near you!

December:

CIC’s 4th Annual Battle of the Bands

We’re bringing it back and it’s going to be better than ever!
