As prom season ends and graduation ceremonies commence across the DMV, College Is Cool wants to send a big congratulations to Zaire, this year’s Polished For Prom winner! Zaire is a graduating senior from Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale, Md. In her submission, she shared the story of losing her mother to breast cancer and less than two years later surviving an accident that had her in a coma for five days. As a result of her experiences, she donates to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, speaks with young women about breast cancer awareness, and talks openly about having vehicles properly checked. She wrote:
During my life so far, I have experienced what I pray most teens my age do not have to go through. I lost my mother to breast cancer and I almost lost my lost my life to negligence. I persevered through my obstacles and they helped to make me the individual I am today. … But I believe anything can happen if you have faith.
Congratulations again to Zaire, and thank you to all our supporters and Polished For Prom for making this experience happen! Check out some pictures below and follow @CollegeIsCool, @PolishedForProm, @AnthonyTilghman (photographer) and @levi_batey (limo service).
